1. How did you first become acquainted with the Church of Scientology?
Parents were both accomplished Scientologists when I was born, joined Sea Org in ’77 I was 7, Left, I re-joined Sea Org when I was 15.
2. What initially appealed to you about scientology?
To gain perfect spiritual awareness, and whole track recall. Throughout my life I’ve had glimpses at ‘things unexplained’, Seeing my body from a 3rd person perspective but only for a fraction of second etc… Nothing regular or reproducible.
3. Were there problems in your life that you thought scientology would address?
The only thing I ever really recall having issue with was having my eyes begin watering uncontrollably when speaking in front of crowds.
4. Did you see, experience, or hear about things that didn’t seem right while you were in the Church of Scientology? What were they, and what convinced you to set aside your feelings?
When in the cadet org I walked in on my cousin accepting small handfuls of sugary cereal to allow young boys to put there penis against or in her vagina. I yelled at them to stop but everyone in the room seemed to be in agreement with what was going on, so I walked out.
When I was 7 I was made to ‘white glove’ the dumpster. It was filled with dirty diapers that were infested with maggots. By the time I was done everyone was asleep and I remember stinking for days afterward.
I read an RPF assignment of a Don Nichols (50ish). In it it reported he had sexual conduct with a young boy [name removed out of respect](13-14).
My uncle committed suicide after being in for about 2 years.
Minors smoking and drinking.
An issue was released on base stating minors needed to ‘secure’ (go to bed) no later than (I believe 10:00pm) However trying to do so was met with heavy disapproval and insinuations of ethics action.
Being made to work in a closed room with a severe ammonia leak (Microfiche duplicating room). So strong at times it would your eyes water.
I remember the Action Chief CMO Int one time asking me to find someone who was to be fired on mission. I searched and searched (he wasn’t in any of the places he should be) I woke many execs, I broke into berthing office and looked on their computer. I finally gave up at about 3:30am. When I told the Action Chief he screamed at me and called me names.
My brother was on the RPF and one day I saw him working outside with his twin. I gave them each an ice cream bar (I worked in the kitchen and there were some leftovers) he was summarily assigned to the RPF’s RPF. The whole reason he was there in the first place was for having pre-marital sex, and ‘overt’ he got off in an amnesty.

Minors being interrogated under duress. Some thefts in the mail room led Jeff Porter (Scum bag extraordinaire) to get everyone who picked up mail on the meter. So he, with someone operating the meter grilled us one at a time, he was being so physically and verbally intimidating I remember leaving the room just drenched in sweat and shaking.
Jeff Porter (head of security) fired a .357 magnum at my brother point blank. It had a ‘blank’ in it but was close enough to burn a hole in his shirt.
I remember getting a severe temperature once (104.5) and going to work to ‘get my stats up’. At noon I was about to collapse so I went to the MLO (Medical Liaison Officer). She told me a temp. that high required antibiotics. However if I wanted treatment I would have to walk to the nearest Scn. medical clinic. I couldn’t physically do it. Luckily my mom who wasn’t in the Sea Org lived fairly nearby and she came and got me.
The list goes on and on and on. I justified all this as the org in general was on a ‘higher purpose’. That and it was a high crime to go to anyone but a Scientologist for recourse.
5. Why did you choose to stay in the Church of Scientology?
My friends and family. I also lost faith in the Organization well before losing faith in the ‘tech’. So I suffered through a few more years.
6. Were you staff or public? If staff, was it at a mission or an org? Were you ever in the Sea Org or OSA? Which unit? If not on staff, did you ever volunteer to ‘help out’?
Cadet Org, Sea Org (recruited for CMO Gold). Traded to IDB (Int. Data Bureau). Traded to PBC (Pac Base Crew) left from there.
7. Why did you leave the Church of Scientology? Was there a “final straw”?
I left the Sea Org because I refused to do the RPF. I worked in Pac Base Crew and was in charge of the Main Mess dining room. The person in charge of the INCOMM dining room was in ethics trouble so I started doing breakfast for him while also doing my job. The person in charge of CMO dining room hurt his back so I started having to help with dinner in there and doing all the cleanup, while maintaining all my other duties. Then one of the two people helping with my dining room got deported back to Canada and the other could no longer help with lunch or dinner setup because he was back in school.
My day literally consisted of running as fast as I could for 15 hours a day, I stopped bringing food and dishes up the elevator because it was too slow.
My stats depended on ‘votes’, people were supposed to vote on food and service separately. Mine was the service vote. However, in the main mess we ran out of the main course all the time and would have to substitute and people always got upset by this and would vote -7 -7 on a scale from +7 to -7. Of course this would bring my stats down and I couldn’t take a day off.
One night after dinner I sat in the bathroom (only private place there was) and I cried as I went over the voting sheets. I couldn’t take it anymore so I took all the vote sheets from the time the food ran out and I threw them in the trash.
Obviously someone found them and I got into trouble and was assigned to the DPF (Decks Project Force) which actually was a vacation from my previous job and I was really happy. Then a mission (project) came about to disband the DPF and either send people back to their orgs or to the RPF. They decided I should be on the RPF and labelled me a low OCA, non-producer. Which of course wasn’t true as my OCA was actually quite high and when they replaced me for the DPF they had to bring in 3 people to do it.
In the Sea Org if you refuse to do the RPF (regardless if it was and incorrect assignment) you are deemed ‘unfit’.
Then in ’95 I began getting interested in other philosophies and read the bible, books on Buddhism, Plato, Socrates, Hume and Sartre. Coupled with some truth coming out via the internet on CoS I made up my mind once and for all to discard the subject of Scn utterly.
8. Do you think the Church of Scientology needs to change some of its practices? If so, what should be changed? How did those practices affect your life?
YES. The de-humanizing, degradation, forced introversion, physical abuse, mental abuse, breaking the law, charging obscene prices for services sometimes never even rendered, lying, encouraging others to lie, forcing people to disconnect from friends and family, dangling eternal salvation over peoples heads as if it actually belonged to them.
I went through a huge bout of depression when I realized my entire belief system was based off lies and what I had done and the money I had donated was forwarding one the single most evil purposes this planet has seen.
9. If the items you listed in the previous question were changed, would you consider rejoining or staying in the Church of Scientology? If so, why?
Nope, because the only tech in Scn. that works is available in paperback by some of the authors I mentioned above.
10. Any additional comments you would like to make?
Anyone reading this that may still be spending money in Scn. hold on a sec. Just read some of the references I mention above.
One of the best books I’ve read was a free book on Buddhism I got on a nightstand in a hotel in Hawaii. If you are a Scn you owe it to yourself to at least read what some other great thinkers have said on the subject of the human condition.
I sincerely wish you the absolute best on your quest for answers and enlightenment no matter what avenue you seek them.
