I think there are some situations in which staying quiet is the right thing to do. There aren't many but there are some.
I really have heard a lot of cases where I understand the unwillingness to drop the "I'm not into Scientology anymore" bomb. A trajedy in the family. A terminally ill Scientologist parent. Being underage. Being a parent yourself, with your 18-and-over kids in the SO, and not wanting to lose contact with them.
A lot of those people choose to first approach the message boards, spend a long time (usually a couple of years) thinking about it, and then start phasing out of CoS without any big hubbub.
You'll notice we have a lot more lurkers here than actual posters. I suspect a lot of the lurking comes from that "I want to talk but I just can't right now" demographic. Which is cool with me. It'll happen in its own time, if it's going to happen.
In any case, sheetmedal, no one will pressure you to reveal your identity here, that's for sure.
