Does any one have any idea if there have been any sort of academic sociological studies done against any aspect of Scientology? Any authors you can think of?

Thanks!

Not that I know of. I know that many students are currently doing them for college classes. We've answered a few questions for them.

There are a few. I got a few hits on Google Scholar but most require you to purchase them. Through my university I was able to access some sociological databases and found maybe a dozen or so articles.

One prominent sociologist of religion is Roy Wallis. He's written a few pieces on Scientology. Hopefully, this cult will get more and more academic attention.

I would imagine the Anderson Report and the Powles-Dumbleton Report would be of interest, government sponsorted reports on Scientology for the State of Victoria, Australia, and the New Zealand Government:

They are an awesome read, and amazing how relevant to today. It seems the culture we have today has been there for a very long time.

Stephen A. Kent, PhD, Professor of Sociology at the University of Alberta, Canada, has published several papers on Scientology which are available on the internet. Google "Stephen Kent Scientology."
